Hi, all. I haven't posted on the Forum for quite some time because I have FINALLY beaten TMS and have been pain free for over a year now! However, I have noticed that while I may have beaten the pain, I have developed shaking hands, especially my right. I wonder if this is what Sarno referred to as being "jittery" and since that is socially unacceptable, we experience TMS pain instead. I was concerned that I might have the beginnings of Parkinson's, and made an appt. with a local neurologist for next week. After I made the appointment, I happened to see an article about him and something called Essential Tremors in a local medical publication. I compared the symptoms of both Parkinson's & ET's and determined my symptoms match Essential Tremors since I don't experience the problem when my hands are at rest. I wondered if anyone on the forum has experienced shaking hands and has been embarrassed by it. I have had not only family members but also work mates that have noticed it. When I'm in a social setting or just very nervous, I have to drink with my left hand, because I know my right will shake and everyone will notice it.
Please let me know if any of you have experienced this condition. It is harmless and can be treated by drugs (which I wouldn't take unless it got extremely worse). According to studies, one of the reasons people get it can be due to STRESS and ANXIETY. Gee, sounds an awful like why people get TMS!
Thanks in advance for any input you might have on this topic.

Thanks for your reply, Barb. I just had blood work done prior to making the appt with the neurologist and my thyroid was fine. My mother has a thyroid problem, so I do have it checked regularly. I agree that not everything is caused by the mind and we do have to be diligent to make sure we don't have a true medical condition that requires medication.

Have your thyroid checked. I had shaking hands and anxiety and shocking stress and after a long period of suffering my mother suggested I have my thyroid levels looked at and they were seriously overactive. This cannot be treated by mind over matter. It requires medication.

Hi Jay! I'm new here. Just found this forum today. What you mention is so wild because I remember way back b4 my chronic pain started my very first symptom was a tremor in my neck. It was right after my second pregnancy. It got to the point where I didn't want to leave the house becuz my neck would tremor and it felt like my head was shaking. I hated it so much and I started holding myself real stiff. Funny, the tremor did go away but I have chronic pain and tension all thru my body now. Maybe shaking is where it starts for some of us. That's really wild. I don't know yet if I have TMS. I still have to read up on it. But from the little I read here today, this sounds all too familiar.
I'm so happy for you that you have been pain free for over a year. That's very wonderful. Maybe you can get to the source of that shaking and if not, it'll be okay anyway.
