Posted - 06/29/2011 : 18:03:42 This is probably a stupid question, but what do y'all say to your subconscious to get it to quit causing distracting physical problems? I am convinced that my health problems are TMS, but I am really struggling to come up with compelling things to say. So, if any of you have ideas (or scripts!!) I would love to hear. Thanks!! |

Posted - 06/30/2011 : 00:19:49 I always carry this note with me and read it when necessary:
I know you're trying to scare me and force me to focus on my body. I know these symptoms are harmless, and I'm not intimidated by them. They are only created to protect my conscious mind from repressed emotions like rage, pain, fear, and sadness. Now calm down and relax those muscles (or tissues, or nerves). Relax those veins and increase the blood flow (or calm the inflammation caused by the over-reaction of the immune function). Now I'm going to shift my attention from the symptoms to emotional issues. I'm going to recognize what is bothering me and the emotions inside me that allow the symptoms to develop. I have to focus on unpleasant and threatening thoughts. |

Posted - 06/29/2011 : 22:34:39 Hi there! I read on one of the other threads on this board that someone says "I'm onto you brain, stop sending me pain!" (I like it because it rhymes). When I am exercising I also repeat to myself, "I am strong, I am healthy, I will be pain free." Hope this helps! |
