 tingling, pain, fatigue causing trouble at work

i looked back at a post i made last year when i was experiencing severe tingling in my feet and legs at night or while resting.
I was trying to remember what happened or how long it took me to recover from that symptom.

Earlier this month I battled a sinus infection along with 3 others at work. It took awhile to get over and I still have a sore in my nose from it. Well about 2 weeks ago the tingling in my legs came back. I noticed that for a few days i had a strange taste in my mouth and i still do. I just didnt feel well, no other way to describe it. Then the tingling in my legs and feet and my hands. I also started getting various pains all over my body. Flashes of pain like a nerve or a tendon in pain. Not sure. Chest pain that I definitely feel is muscular in origin. With the chest pain I have had pain run along down my arm into my hand. Very random jolts of pain. Very bad fatigue. Even some numbness in my face.
This makes 2 weeks of this and its starting to be noticed at work and could cause me some trouble. I push myself through this to perform so noone else is having to pull my wait.
Last year went I went through this it was June. I seen my doctor write down "fibromyalgia" on my chart and he precribed some pills that I never took. He never told me what he thought was wrong, just gave me a prescription. I was fine last month. I traveled with my family to take my son to frankies fun park about 3 weeks ago, i was sick from the sinus infection but i pushed through and had fun with my family despite the suffering.
Now next saturday is my daughters birthday snd we are taking her to a waterpark. Im hoping i can beat this by then. I really dont feel like traveling with this feeling. It makes me sooo anxious and then i dont get to enjoy the trip.

Ive tried everything in my TMS arsenal and i havent gotten any results. I rodered steveo's book a few days ago. Ive been through sarnos book, schubiners book. i ignored all this today at work and it was tough but i definitely cant keep doing this.

Also one more thing, fighting anything is counterproductive in all situations in my experience. In other words just act normal and do normal things despite the pain. Dont try to specifically do an action to challenge a pain bc just doesn't work. You may be able to do it, but it only sensitizes your mind more and increases the mental and physical strain. It's really just about letting go in my experience.

Yes it's more of a physical and mental strain, that needs desensitization. I found that it is somewhat impossible to desensitize the highly sensitized mind without mind-power techniques. Some people are not so bad and just by trying to relax and not worry about their symptoms, that is enough. I also found that some people are very highly susceptible to suggestion and even though their symptoms are severe, it seems that they are quick to heal by minimal work and minimal talking to their brain ( same concept of why some people are more easily hypnotized than others). Another point I would like to make is that just understanding its a mind thing gets you better to a certain point, but the mind power helps you cross the finish line if your persistent and you give it all the time it needs

Make sure you get a complete physical examination, including blood tests. Make sure one of the blood tests is for Lyme's Disease. You may also want to consult a neurologist. It could very well be that you have TMS, but there could be something else going on medically. Neurological diseases can sometimes be triggered by infections or even stress. At the very least, if the doctors don't find anything seriously wrong, you can be confident it's TMS, and that should help your anxiety and your physical symptoms.

I hear you, Walt. It's hard to figure all of this out, and our NEED to figure it out keeps anxiety personalities like you and I stuck. In fact, you are one of the people that helped me see that. :)

When you say that you don't think your anxiety has anything to do with it, I'm not sure I can agree there. But, we may just be talking about word-choice, here. Some here find there to be a big divide between TMS and anxiety, and some here think there is almost no divide.

I personally believe that anxiety is a TMS equivalent... which was Sarno's original theory. I think some people get a sore back, and some get panic attacks. Some people think it's internal rage (for example) and some think it's more related to stress build-up. I think it can be both, but I think moreover, TMS can mostly be treated as anxiety... and those modes of treatment will show results. I'm not through my recovery yet so I'm no expert, so just take my opinions for what they're worth.

As for tingling in the feet, I've not only had it.. but had it recently as part of my anxiety. One day last week it got so bad it was hard to walk, because it shot "nerve pain" up through my legs.
I've also had stretches where my feet would go numb, and one day I remember where it was literally hard to feel the lower half of my body.

I'd offer the thought that you may be feeling it when at rest because you're less distracted.

I've also had a return of the numbness lately in my face. That was an original panic symptom for me. It's come back, oddly... as I've made progress in other areas. Usually one side of my face will get numb and tingly, but it can be other body parts, too.

I don't get much chest pain, but have had it... and certainly get bouts of fatigue.

As for Fibro, Schubiner believes that's 100% TMS, which again... some other people may just call anxiety or depression with a fancy name.

So, when you say that others have "not battled the same symptoms"... I have to strongly disagree with that. Scores of people with anxiety complain of tingling and numbness, and for some it stays around quite a while.

You're such a strong guy, knowing your story like I do. You'll overcome this like the other symptoms in the past. I do wish you would consider what I said about the body's sensitization and how, like a broken leg... it needs rest to heal. I never considered that myself until recently. We're similar in the "go go go" nature we have.

But, as you've taught me in the past... if there is a symptom we just can't accept, it may be time to have a doctor tell us there's nothing to it. If you need to see a Neuro to gain peace that this is nothing more than anxiety or TMS, perhaps that's not a bad idea.

Sorry to hear it's bothering you, but I expect you to be over this very soon. You've been a great help to me and I expect this will be another time I can learn from your persistence and hard work.

hey bryan, good to hear from you. i dont feel my anxiety has anything to do with it. i feel the symptoms are so strong and get so much of my attention that my anxiety stepped in.

i think what is bothering me the most is that there isnt a whole lot of talk about these symptoms related tms. most books i read are relating the tingling and numbness to panic. thats not at all what is going on here. this tingling is stronger when resting. the numbness moves around my body which makes me think tms.
i dont know. i guess not finding others that have battled this same symptom or going through a rarer tms symptom makes this more difficult to accept as tms, assuming it is tms.

Sorry to hear the anxiety is acting up. Believe me, I know how you feel.

I know you push yourself hard. I wonder if your body ever has had a true chance to physically recover. Many anxiety experts believe we need at least a year of low stimulation and the right cognitive work to recover. How much true downtime are you getting? We have overstimulated nervous systems. Like any other body system, it needs rest to heal. I've finally figured this out myself and am trying to work on the physical repairs as well as the metal work. I'll email you a few links that may help.
