Posted - 07/25/2012 : 08:27:52 Hi all, I haven't been on here in awhile. Just thought I'd check in because I'm in a phase of my cynical work schedule that is especially anxiety provoking and I like to remind myself of my TMSish personality and all the work I've done to manage it at times like this one. I also just wanted to show my virtual face to any newbies who might be interested to know that it does take some work but it is possible to be healed from TMS.
I believe my whole tale is in the success stories section but long story short, I discovered Sarno's work in 2002 after four years of increasing pain and other weird symptoms that I was worried were fibromyalgia or some sh*t like that. I say sh*t because I see these commercials for fibro drugs on TV and I want to tell women/people considering these drugs that fibro doesn't even exist. It's TMS in its purest form.
You have the power to heal yourself. You can take your life back. You can have a life you've never even had before, if you will face your fear, anger, sorrow, conflict etc. and if you unbrainwash yourself of all the nocebos out there about pain/weakness. You are strong.
It took me less than a year of journaling, retraining my brain, and getting back into all my old activities to be 100% healed.
Yes, I still have very occasional flare ups of TMS equivalents - my mind body seems especially fond of hives and headaches when I'm being too much of a goodist/perfectionist - but I can easily manage these, usually heading off the migraines before they even get going and keeping the hives localized to a spot or two - and I have NO pain.
I am currently lifting weights 3x a week and biking/walking 2 or 3x a week. I know this sounds like a Bowflex commercial but I'm in my 40s and in the best physical shape of my life. (If only my skin would bounce back to its 25 year old self! - but that is not TMS, that's just plain gravity plus time.)
Keep on keepin' on! The Sarno theory works if you do the work.

I admire your commitment to the process :) It sounds like you are doing great on your continued journey. Please elaborate about your current healing process, like how much time do you devote to journaling and reading TMS literature these days? |
