Wow, this really hit home with me. The part about her father made my eyes fill up. I was thinking not too long ago that I don't remember my father ever saying that he loved me. Not ever in all the years he was alive. He criticized me more than anything else. And I don't remember him ever giving me a hug. But like Maude I do remember something redeeming about him. When I was in 2nd grade and on Valentine's day a corsage of pink carnations was delivered to my school and right to my desk in front of everybody. They were from my dad.
