I have read all of Dr. John Sarno's books. However, I still am haunted with continuous issues that have affected my quality of life. I have been checked out by every physician except a shrink and they all tell me that I'm physically healthy. I have experienced the following over the last few years: headache, dizziness, palpitations, tingling, insomnia, neck pain, burning tongue, burning legs, plantar faciitis, fatigue, rashes, frequent urination, IBS, reflux, and more. Any suggestions on how to beat TMS? |

Yea. Just realize that NEARLY EVERY one of these TMS equivalents is simply designed to prevent you from facing emotions that exist deep within you, but that your brain has decided are too painful or possibly socially harmful to face and acknowledge. All you can do is to BELIEVE Sarno's theory and ask yourself, every time you experience these TMS equivalents and their symptoms, what it might be that you're afraid to face. Keep asking that question. Whatever comes to your mind first is probably what is bugging you. But these things take time to figure out, so don't expect an answer this instant. Each of these TMS equivalents is a battle that you must fight, moment-by-moment, and they will take an amount of time that depends on how long you've been repressing these emotions and how powerful a need you have felt to do so.
You'll get there! Believe me. I had serious typing that lasted about 2 years. It all ended 2 years ago when I read Sarno's book. I unlocked a lot of stuff I had bottled up, and Sarno's theory gave me a way to address and come to terms with a lot of things I'd never dealt in the right way with, at least in terms of dealing with myself and how I felt.
Then, this past spring I had a recurrence of the typing pain. I started to wonder: was it all fake? Do I really have maligned hands? Is Sarno's theory only partially or possibly not true?
Then I emailed a local TMS doctor. He assured me typing doesn't cause pain! And he said based on my history he was almost positive my recurrence of typing pain was TMS related. Well, the pain went away again, and here I am typing away!
Best of luck. |
