i have been successfully dealing with TMS in the past 8 years just by reading and following dr. sarno's books methods, in the last 9 months i have knee pain that i just can't get rid of, i did x-rays and went to 2 doctors, who found nothing in the xrays so diagnosed me with patella femoral syndrome, i even tried 3 months of the conventional treatments with physical therapist which of course didn't help.
as opposed to the past when i had severe back pain for 2 year - which completely went away with reading Healing back pain - and some other TMS issues, this pain is mild, but i just can't get rid of it...any suggestions?

I'd ignore it completely. The doctors have ruled out anything structural (that diagnosis means nothing), the pain is mild. TMS people tend to obsess and worry about pain. It's that fear that keeps it going. Your pain hasn't gone away I'm guessing, because you're still worried about it. |

X-rays don't show soft tissue and physiotherapists are hacks. My knee pain has dissipated greatly after correcting my posture through a mixture of neuromuscular retraining and connective tissue stretching. In fact, both my entire legs feel looser and more flexible. Walking is a pleasure again. If you find that your hip joints sit in front of your knees, causing them to hyperextend, then I'd look into it.
There's a wealth of knowledge available on pain if you look for it. One of the things I really don't like about Sarno's work is the unwitting 'nail and hammer' ignorance it creates. Despite his flawed reasoning, just because your physicians and complementary therapists fail to diagnose you doesn't automatically lead to a TMS diagnosis. The body requires movement to function, so I don't care how well balanced your rage/soothe ratio is - you're not going to be healthy without a good understanding of your body's needs. |
