My son has been struggling with hives and GI issues since last November. He's 28 and in grad school, so a stressful time. Out of the blue one night he had violent vomiting and diarrhea to the point where he had to be taken to the ER. They just figured he had food poisoning, fixed him up and sent him home. After that, hives started and they come and go although they're there most of the time. The stomach eruptions happen periodically too. He's been allergy tested and scoped, tested for everything they can think of. No diagnosis. The doctors are stumped. Could his situation be TMS? Have any of you had problems like these or know of anyone who had these types of problems that were solved by TMS work? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would say most like he must be a overachiever who is driven to succeed to the point, of having these symptoms it could also be stress

Hi Amy,
I had this exact same thing happen to me about 15 years ago. I had a terrible bout of what I assumed was food poisoning with hives the next day. And then, I hate to say it , but had years of on and off nausea (never to the point of vomiting - but often) and occasional hives. It was probably about 7 years that this went on. The doctors found nothing. I worked for acupuncturists for years. One said it was a lingering pathogen. I was grateful that at least it was recognized by the acupuncturist and she had some ways of treating me. I do believe that a good acupuncturist will understand the mind/body/spirit/energy connection. They look at things more holistically than regular docs. Also a good acupuncturist will know a lot about herbs. It's not all quackery in my opinion but not so easy to find a good one. And it is not a quick cure all either.
I am totally better from the stomach thing now. Now I am suffering from RSI and looking back wondering if the lingering aspect of the food poisoning had something to do with a TMS prone mind. I do think I actually did have food poisoning. I think that my mind/body may have held on to the trauma and it took years to get it out of my system. Acupuncturists often diagnose in a language of the body as an energy system. At the time, I took the term "lingering pathogen" literally. But she might have meant it as a metaphor for something energetic within my system. I hope that is helpful. Feel free to ask me anything. I'm sorry your son is suffering.

Those 2 symptoms are typical TMS symptoms. I had it years ago and it took me months to really "ACCEPTED" that it is TMS. Once you've accepted the diagnosis then the cure will come. Because FEAR of the symptoms is the main fuel for the symptoms. Once you accepted the diagnosis you will loose the fear of it and that will cut off the fuel to for the symptoms to keep burning inside you. So, do everything you can to understand that the symptoms are from TMS, it can not do any harm to you, and accept the diagnosis, occupy your mind with positive things, give it sometime then wonderful thing will happen.

Don't go around looking for repressed rage because I spent years looking for it and didn't find it. Just try to recognize that we, as TMS sufferers, are much more sensitive to our body's reaction to stress (anything that is negative in our life). When under stress we all breath harder, our heart pound faster, our muscle tense up, our head foggy, we may suffer from insomnia which will make us tired and lethargic. We would get pimples on our face..... Normal people would just say: oh well! I'm under stress and those are stress symptoms and they will all go away once I am no longer under stress. But TMS sufferers would very likely focus on the negatives and their stress prolong. All those stress symptoms will grow and intensified and then we make the worse mistake of all, the mistake that turned us from normal to TMS sufferers, we make the wrong interpretation of those symptoms. When we breath hard and our heart is pounding we would think there is something wrong with our heart and/or we going to have a heart attack. When we have some skin problem we think we are allergy of something or worse it maybe skin cancer. When we have headache we think it is a brain tumor.... you get the idea. When we have PROLONG stress symptoms, and when we made the WRONG INTERPRETATION OF OUR NORMALL STRESS SYMPTOMS, and we FEAR THE SYMPTOMS, is when TMS symptoms appeared.
So do everything you can to elliminate those fears of the symptoms and those wrong interpretations of the symptoms and you will be cure.
I spend more than 10 years looking for repressed rages and worked with them and still unable to get rid of TMS. I got rid of one symptom and another one will soon appear. Not until I realized that the main cause of my TMS symptoms is WRONG CONCLUSION ABOUT THE NORMAL STRESS SYMPTOMS AND FEAR OF THOSE WRONG THOUGHTS, WRONG DIAGNOSIS, WRONG INTERPRETATIONS, WRONG CONCLUSIONS OF WHAT THOSE SYMPTOMS WOULD DO TO ME, I cure myself for good.

Also, it will take time. It took you weeks and months to THINK youself into your illness and it will take days or weeks to THINK yourselve out of it.

Hope this help.
