I had bad arm pain a long time ago. I wasn't even able to lift a can at the supermarket! That was DEFINITLY TMS for your info. It never came back. Now it has moved on to less obvious areas like my toes!

When my TMS was at it's worst I had pain in my right arm, and also numbness. Were you diagosed with a herniation in the cervical area? If so, your brain will use that diagnosis and you will have refered arm pain that the doctor will tell you is caused by this. My arm pain and numbness disappeared shortly after subscribing to the mindbody theory.Good Luck -Al

Hi Player
I had arm pain from low ache to excruciating for about 2 years, maybe three...right after I became a father.

I went to PT and chiros...it started in my mid-upper back and wrapped around from the shoulder blade(stabbing) all the way to my fingers. It was particularly burning in my forearms, like a hot wire running from elbow to wrist.

It never really went away...It just sort of faded after months and years of tending to it...and THAN I came down with back pain/sciatica that was crippling which led me to Sarno and ultimately, complete recovery.

It's easy now to see why I had it,but than I would have laughed if someone told me about TMS.

I DO remember being able to lift weights(I could bench about 265 back then)play sports pain free, but washing the dishes and folding laundry set my shoulder and forearm into agony...

.aaahh,hindsight...always 20/20

What's your story?

I have had cronic RSI in both arms, for a couple of years, and it varies constantly to unbearable to managable, stress has a massive impact though, and working in IT doesnt help. I am still part way through my TMS battle, I know deep down its all mainly a mental war, for me but I havent quite cracked it yet.... getting there though. You may have caught me on a bad week. I am an intense person and have accepted that fact, and won a few battles but not the war.

Sarno's stuff works though, it just eliminating the fear, fear is the mind killer.

Hi Player,

I had RSI for six months. It is painful, frustrating and upsetting.
Mine became worse and worse after I read about more and more symptoms. It just started as a little cramp in my left hand!
But we all know that our arms are generally healthy and there is nothing to fear - my symptoms diminished very fast after reading MBP. RSI is a fashionable injury, made worse by the countless physiotherapists, acupuncturists(is that a word?!)and other members of the alternative medicine field who 'treat' it. Sharon Butler's program is in my opinion the most misleading - she intills fear in you about doing too much(and that you will diminish the 'bank account' of energy in your arms) and that it will harm you etc. This is absolute nonsense. I'm sure the people that are 'cured' by her program are experiencing a placebo.

If you're looking for a laugh, check out Sharon Butler's fear-mongering list of occupations with "an inherent risk of injury, especially to the upper body."
