Neck spasms have been the one TMS equivalent that throughout my life have been the one constant, and have caused me the most problems.
Whenever they happen I have to just wait them out. No matter how much accepting I do or writing or relaxing, they just have to run their course.
I haven't had one in over a year and the one I got last night happened while I was dreaming about my ex-girlfriend, whom I just broke up with last week.

You couldnt ask for a more blatant and obvious psychosomatic-pain-situation.
Whats even more amazing about this (to me) is that I journaled for about an hour before I went to sleep in an attempt to release a lot of the stress and emotion I have with this.

That said, now I'm in this terrible spasm.

I definitively know this is TMS and that it will pass but was wondering what others did once they got a super-sharp spasm and if they could somehow end it early. It seems to be the one equivalent that I cannot "accept-away" or "release".

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi Avik,

I had a neck fully cease up on me that I didn’t write about two years ago. It was on the eve of a trip to Hawaii. This was a promised trip for my sister in law recovering from PNP Cancer with a lot of planning and anticipation. I remember not being able to turn my head on the flight to look out the window. It was not until the third day when I got to go windsurfing that my pain disappeared completely, I guess it hard to be in pain if you are having fun. I hope the weight lifting works, those recovery minutes between sets are really soothing.

Here is my one and only recorded neck spasm that came out of the blue. The main direction is to sooth with Tom's glass of wine or whatever you fancy.

This would be a good time to turn off TVs, Cell phones and computers etc. Stimulate your body and mind with "self", raisen bran worked for me that night. here is the link.

Andy-

Nice to hear from you.
Ive been PAIN FREE for a long time now and this recent episode really shocked me at how sudden and painful it was/is.

My issue with spasms, unlike any other TMS equivalent is that once I get a spasm, it takes days for it to "heal" or "relax". This could all be in my head...meaning that because I think they take days to heal, they take days to heal.
Here I ma on day 3, the pain has subsided by about 60-70% and I should be back to normal tomorrow and Saturday at which point I will head right back into the gym and get back to lifting heavy weights.

I wonder if I could either "talk my way out" or "accept" my way out of spasms in the future. This one felt almost unfair as it happened while I was sleeping and the panic that rose from being in a sleep-state prevented me from being able to handle it in the same way I normally do.

Did I speed up the process? I will never really don't know.

I think that's what the Good Doctor recommended the bottle of wine or Klonopin for. But, not together unless prescribed by a doctor.

g'luck!
