Hello Everyone:
I just received this email (below) and it is so common of what happens in this pain disorder.

FYI - this is from a world-class runner who has won major marathons and championships around the world. This person has had to be very focused on their body and has needed to trust the professionals (doctors/trainers/coaches).

In this disorder it doesn't matter....you have a cause (your thoughts) and you have effect (pain) and you can change the cause and the effect will change.

When you begin to address the the inner stress and tension (the cause) in these pain disorders by "thinking psychological" you are successfully reversing this pain disorder. However, in some instances, the pain will move to a new location as a means to further distract you and get you to focus once again on the body and not the mental/emotional aspects that are causing this pain.

If your chronic butt pain or sciatica goes away!!! This is fantanstic. You are eliminating the pain disorder. If the pain moves to your knee. This is fantanstic, you are winning and the disorder is trying to distract you. Now you must apply the same principles to the new pain!

Address the new pain with "I know what is going on here, I don't need your distraction, now go away"....and now focus on you---what you are thinking, what you are feeling, how great this is that you are reversing this pain disorder, be mindful and think clean. Stay the course and don't get distracted.

Hopefully you are as lucky as this person...even though they went the Doctor route and was told to have surgery! But---now the new "knee" pain is gone!

Ladies and Gentlemen this is how this dynamic disorder will keep you distracted and in pain. I hope this helps you understand this pain disorder. Remember it is your "communication" through your "daily thought patterns" that either keeps this pain in your life or eliminates it.

Be Mindful,

Hi Monte,
I hope you are keeping well. I am struggling to be positive. Your book and Dr.John Sarno''s book makes so much sense and it all adds up for me, but I it is hard and I know I have to believe 100% in your theory. Here is my story since I was last in touch with you. My butt pain disappeared, but guess what I got a slight pain in my knee. Again nothing that stopped me from running, a niggling pain that came and went some days during my runs. I got an MRI scan on it and the surgeon tells me I need to get keyhole surgery on it, apparently I have torn some cartilage and something else! I am due to get that done next week, but wait for it... My knee is fine now and my butt, lower back pain has returned. I know you have heard this kind of story many times, but I feel isolated and need reassurance with all of this stuff. I know I should think clean and forget about all the negative things in life, but as I said I need help. These surgeons are educated people and highly intelligent, but they don''t know or want to know about how they mind can create pain and discomfort to the body. This is a tricky situation for me and I would appreciate your help. It is my call at the end of the day what I should do, but I need guidance, encouragement and reassurance. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best wishes, "xxxxxxxxxxxx"
