I was diagnosed with diverticular disease in October. I had an infection that has resolved itself. I had a second CT in November to confirm that the diverticulitis was gone. I'm still having problems with severe abdominal pain on my upper right and upper left sides. I am having a HIDA scan to rule out gallbladder problems, and I'll be scheduling a colonoscopy/endoscopy today to look at the rest of my colon and my stomach. I know that I do not have gallstones and my liver is normal.
Yesterday at about 6:30 I experienced a severe upper left abdominal pain located just below my left breast. It is extremely painful to the touch and it hurts to move, cough, laugh, or sneeze. The pain radiates downward and in a circular area--so my ribcage hurts around the area, but there is one spot that is especially painful. This pain has been going on for about 18 hours now. Tagamet, Librax, and Ultram have not gotten rid of the pain. It has not subsided, though as I type this, it is not as severe. This could be an ulcer or some abnormality in my stomach, lung, or ribcage, and I'm in the process of having those things ruled out.
Whenever I hear about Fibromyalgia, I hear the term "trigger points". Could this be a "trigger point"? I never experienced trigger points with my TMS related back pain before, so I'm not entirely sure what a trigger point would feel like. Does anyone experience TMS related ribcage or abdominal pain that is not IBS/does not result in changed bowel habits? I've had IBS type symptoms for many years, and this is definitely not my IBS. |
