I have been experiencing pain in my right hip for about 8 weeks now. In the past I have expereinced TMS in my lower back, shoulder, and hamstring. I know I just need to get out and run to complete my TMS healing. It makes sense to me that this pain is TMS being I have expereinced the TMS in other areas in the past 4 years (since I began reading Dr. Sarno's book). Any success stories out there about hip pain that might help my healing?? I am anxious to run again, I am currently training for a triathlon, and it has been about 6 weeks since I ran. My swimming and cycling are doing well without pain. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks. Mike |

MZ Before I found Sarno, I had both knees replaced. I was always very active. It has ruined my life. I was then diagnosed with 3 herniated discs and stenosis and offered surgery. I followed Sarno instead.
I had a hip xray about 2 weeks ago and it is a horrible picture. Totally degenerated. Needs replacement...NOT.
Had I seen Sarno first, I never would have done the knees. I will never touch this hip. The back stuff is garbage I won't address. I have TMS. They can xray me all day long and find stuff. I know what is causing the pain. Keep swimming and cycling. I'm sure that you can get back to running.
Once I got the hip diagnosis and knew what I was dealing with, I addressed it with my new skills and it is getting better. I too swim and cycle. They're very good things to do. I'm building up leg strenght that has diminished from following conventional medicine. If I hadn't found Sarno, I would be in a wheel chair.
Hope this helps. Keep moving. Polly |

Polly, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know I really have to think about what Dr. Sarno's book has taught me in the past and continue this thinking. Hope your hip feels better. Thanks again. Mike |

Hi MZ, I, too, have run marathons (8 total) but the last one was in October 2003 and I never really bounced back. In fact, I shouldn't have run that one! I'd been suffering from mysterious pelvic pain for weeks and several tests didn't find anything so the doc told me to pop some tylenol and I'd be fine. The pain was mostly in the right hip. It had bothered me for years, but got intense. Then in January 2004, I noticed it wasn't there anymore. Suddenly in February, I got LEFT hip pain and it has nagged me ever since. The docs have said it is arthritis, but I have more arthritis on the right side than the left, and the right side doesn't hurt. The ortho doc said I was having a good day, and offered me a hip replacement. I told him NO WAY. A few weeks after that, I found Sarno (early August). I'm still working on learning about it, and still struggling with pain. I haven't learned how to "ignore" it. But I have learned how to journal and how to look at life in the present. I seem to be taking longer than most, but I am determined to be pain free.
How about sitting back and look to see what is going on in your life. Are you journaling? |
