Bet the title gets attention! It sounds like a grade B 1950’s movie but I swear I didn’t make it up. Three or four times over the past year, I’ve ‘heard’ a loud bang, like a gun going off, or a fire cracker exploding, inside my head, just as I’m falling asleep. It’s pretty bizarre and scary when I hear it, except there’s no related pain or discomfort and so I go back to sleep.

Last night it happened twice and I slept fitfully and experienced worse than usual sleep paralysis the many times I woke up. So, this morning I Googled some key words like ‘gunfire inside head while falling asleep’ (amazing how you can find just about anything within 5 seconds) and found this (unfortunately named) parasomnia condition: http://www.sleepassociation.org/index.php?p=explodingheadsyndrome

I wonder if any other TMS prone people have experienced such weird phenomena. I don’t mean to suggest that it is TMS, per se, but if I hadn’t searched for it on the Internet, I’d have assumed it was just me and that I was going crazy (except that I know I'm already crazy).

It is interesting that it’s widely accepted as being stress related. (BTY, I’ve experienced Fibromyalgia, herniated disc, migraine headaches--which can feel like your head is exploding, etc., etc…over many years.)

Anybody Else?
