I am having a bad relapse with TMS for the last 2 weeks. I seem to be fighting it.
I had a thought.
Has anyone here stopped fighting the TMS and just made peace with it?
If so could you tell me if this is the way I need to go.
Thanks

Accepting the pain and not giving it any further attention in the form of anger or fear is key I feel.
You might wanna read lakevin's thoughts on this http://www.tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8487&whichpage=2 (starts somewhere halfway down the page)

dont fight it because it will make it worse. theres a lot of people that talk about this such as what alan gordon says "outcome indepencence". if you're in pain or not, the important thing is you dont care. if you care then you're fearing the pain if you have it, and if you care but dont have pain, then you will most likely fear the pain coming back.

WAY easier said than done I know because im trying to do the same thing but claire weekes talks about this in hope and help for your nerves as well. take everything shes talking about with anxiety and nervous illness, apply it to your pain/TMS.

This is a constructive attitude.

Accept the symptoms. Welcome them as a benign signal that you need to address your emotional health. Try to figure out what feelings you might be repressing in response to recent developments in your life.

If you "fight" the symptoms then TMS is winning the battle by keeping you focused on them.

Thanks you so much for you remarks they really mean a lot to me.
2 weeks ago I had a server relapse;
I then decided to make peace with the pain and release my thoughts about it.
My new mantra:
Make peace and release.
Up to the point of 2 weeks ago I was running a mile and a half.
I continued this last week, but yesterday I could only do a mile and I have some pain today.
I know my conscious mind has accepted that I have MBS thus the reason why I want to keep my mile and a half up.
However my subconscious mind is not quite there yet.
My question is simple:
Should I lay off the running till I feel better or should I just endure the pain?
If you have experienced this before please let me know what you did to get over this hurdle.
In January I could not run a block now I am up to a mile and a half and worried that if I stop I will start to go back to where I once was.
Any help or insight is GREATLY appreciated.

A large part of the TMS distraction involves ruminating on what will happen to your symptoms and will you activity level decrease in the near future. Whether you take a break or not doesn't matter. What matters is if you view your symptoms as benign or not. When you find yourself ruminating over something, try and turn your attention back to the present. As Dave said, the key is to use your symptoms as a signal.

Thank You Forest for your reply.
Your video success story and other stories on here gives me hope to know there is a way one can change the way they process the pain as an indicator and KNOW that it is benign and focus on the moment. Sounds easy but will power and patients is required and when I am in pain it is often very hard to focus on these things. I read where many have done it and are now living a good life one day I will also be in that number.
