I love this forum (and the wiki, too) and think that the best way to use it is tp:
1) learn about tms
2) try out different ideas
3) hone in on what works for you.

Of course, it is a bit of a mystery soup in the beginning but all you can do is grab a spoon and start tasting.

Then, by sharing what works, others are helped. Whether few or many hardly matters.

Personally, I love this forum. I wish more people came by for information and encouragement and stayed to post. I have trouble understanding why they don't. Does it prove that we are an inflexible species, perhaps tmsers more so than others? Could be. Doesn't matter. We need to be here for those who are willing to hear that there is a way through pain.

One more thing: I get why we tell newcomers to get the tests and "prove" the pain isn't from some physical cause. We don't want them to miss something treatable because they are assuming it is entirely psychosomatic when it isn't.

But we also need to tell people that tms theory helps enormously even if there is a "real" component to your pain.

Without an awareness of the psychological, we suffer far beyond what we need to whether the problem is fibromyalgia or cancer. One of the down sides of being human, I suppose.

PS: This post started out as a response to Art's thread but I decided it needed a space of its own.

A lovely thread, my dear.
I found Art's post inspiring and responded, but the internet black hole ate it, so I'm happy for this second shot.

I love this forum too. It's quite different to the wiki, which I also frequent. Gigalos and I rolled around in the distinctions once. The wiki is genteel, very supportive, gentle and inclusive, in that all theories and styles of tms are embraced. It possesses a very healthy 'yes, and' attitude. I like it very much. It is high tea and cocktails and kindness.

This place I adore because it's a Bukowski tavern. It's fast and heated and cool and full of interesting characters. There's even a 'let's take this outside' brawl happening at the moment. It's precious, caring and deeply human in it's flaws. I love that we can hang our goodist personas by the door, knock back a chaser, chew the fat, flirt or fight. It has my heart. And maybe this is the best and the worst of it. We're all in this together.
