I'm so happy, I just have to share my success story. I had crippling, unbearable sciatica from mid-November up until about 3 weeks ago. I read and re-read "Healing Back Pain" several times and would feel some relief, but the pain would always return. It wasn't until I was diagnosed and treated by Dr. Gzwodz (sp?) and given the tools to combat TMS that I found complete and long-lasting relief from the pain. I was ready to give up on the TMS diagnosis until I saw Dr. Gzwodz. And after only a few weeks of using the tools he gave me, I am pain free!!! So, don't ever give up. See a TMS doctor, even if you have to travel far to see one. It's worth it! And once you are given instruction on how to combat the pain and talk to your brain, do it every day, several times a day if necessary. Don't let your friends, family and non-TMS doctors talk you into chiropractic or surgery or some other physical treatment. You can do it! |

Hi,
I don't know if the steps are outlined in any other of Sarno's books, but definitely the daily reminders from Healing Back Pain are a part of my day. I repeat these to myself periodically through the day. I would use these to "talk myself down" from a bad pain episode. Also, you must read the psychology chapter of either Healing Back Pain (which is what I did) or one of the other Sarno books, every day. Another tool is to make a list of what angers you and to return to it to remind yourself what you're repressing. (note: you do NOT have to express this anger. Simply acknowlege it.) What was essential, at least for me, was to actually go and see a medical doctor, like Gzwodz or Sarno, who will give you the proper diagnosis. Once I got the official word that I had TMS, it was much easier for me to accept it. Doing it on my own was not enough. |
