Hey all,

I just wanted to report to all that I have had a slight breakthrough. For Christmas my husband gave me a pair of ice skates. So the following day, my family and I went skating. It was a sunny Colorado day and we skated on the lake surrounded by the mountains. It was beuatiful. My skating itself is terrible, but I had no pelvic pain. I could't believe it! My back hurt some, but I find that pain is easier to ignore. Anyway it was the most fun I have had in ages, sad but true.

My next goals include running and skiing. We took my son to ski school yesterday, his first time, and he had a blast. I can't wait to get out there and ski with him!

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year.

Not sad at all, Sara - skating with your family in the beautiful Colorado countryside (never been, but seen lots of travel shows) sounds great, and well done in getting to where you want to be in ridding yourself of TMS.

One added bonus I have found - having come through vicious TMS pain and increasing anxiety/depression - I have come out the other side with the ability to enjoy things as they happen, to live in the present. That was something I realise that I was never able to do before. Sounds a bit 'new agey', I know, but my life has changed for the better in many ways since the awful pain faded away.

Enjoy your ski-ing and very best wishes for 2005. Have a happy Hogmany - as we call New Year's Eve in Scotland.

Sara,
Nice to hear a good story for a change. People should remember to post those too! You know... back, neck, shoulder and leg pain are the more obvious TMS targets. I had all of those years ago. Without a doubt TMS. For me easily resolved back then. Now I have these weird equivilants (I hope equivilants) and there is always a shade of doubt. As much as I try to overcome(asthma & nagging toe problems) I have only seen slight improvement. I just wish I can be totally convinced. I need to be over with this! I really need some encouragement for the new year. Anyone please.......

Holly,

I think you previously posted that you were seeing Dr Sarno in Dec. What did he say about your asthma and toe?

Tennis Tom HI!
You know when I saw him I never mentioned my asthma and I was so positive at the time I told him I have TMS in my toes! I don't know what I was thinking. He just basically agreed with what I was saying, telling me that I already knew what to do! I brought my xrays but didn't bother him with it since I knew they didn't show anything. I really thought that day "why bother going? I know this is TMS" remember Tennis Tom? Then I proceeded to get daring with shoes etc. and didn't succeed too well. So here I am still now presuming I have TMS and not positive anymore!I know you have been there for me with this shoe thing and I thank you sooooo much

Holly, It's coming back to me now. You were going to cancel and I was trying to piggy back onto your appointment with questions for the good doctor. Call him up and do a phone consult or make an appointment. He's a doctor after all and that's they're there for to deal with health concerns. I always make a list for such appointments to keep me focused. It's easy to get distracted at doctor's office due to all the questions they ask and the forms you have to fill out. Write down your concerns and keep them in front of you and check them off like a shopping list. Good luck and hope you dance into the New Year!

TT, No I'm not going to call him again. He really isn't going to know what's up with these toes either over the phone or in person. There is nothing to see either. Dr. fataah (spelling?) pretty much summed it up now that I think about it. It most likely is TMS. Let's face it , it's not your usual cut & dry case of TMS. Unless my brain is purposely throwing me a fastball. My adult asthma is a more believeable TMS equivilent because of the "conditioning" aspect. But this toe thing really throws me off. There is one thing about it that I want to tell you. Originally this all started 2 years ago with a real bad bang to the middle toe (then the pinky toes situation developed later) Well after 2 years that original injured middle toe which started this whole thing finally got better this past week! It strangely took 2 long years. Maybe, just maybe the pinky toes are next? I am hoping for a miracle. I have been weaning myself slowly off my asthma medication but still find it scary not to cover my mouth when breathing in cold air. I am working on trying that slowly.
But those toes...........OY VEAH!
